Wild Berries
This striking necklace is composed of a mix of six handcrafted chevron Murano trade beads known as “Awale,” from the late 19th to early 20th century, vintage lapis lazuli, faceted rubies, garnet, jade, carnelian, crystal and amazonite beads, two African gold-plated Tuareg bicone silver beads, two vintage gold-plated West African spacers, two vintage Indian Dholki 22K gold foil wax beads, four vintage Indian gold foil and faceted wax beads, 925 sterling silver modern hook and 18K gold-plated clasp.
Age marks, imperfections, minor nicks and digs or scratches on some beads attest to their extensive use. They play a part in the story of beads and add an element of intrigue to each creation.
